"Antiphon" By Willoughby Sprig

written in 2009

I wrote Antiphon after reading the two chimney sweep poems from William Blake's "Songs of Innocence and Experience." It is scored for solo voice, harmonium and tenor banjo. Much of the imagery in the music is reminiscent of the colors which are found in the prints by Blake which correspond with the two poems.

I also just wanted to write a song about chimney sweeps. Because chimney sweeps are really great.
